Luke 6:37
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven"
It occurs to me that even so we have heard those words quite often, we did not understand nor apply its true meaning in our daily lives. We judge others constantly. We make a quick judgement and have a category for everything. We judge sometimes in 20 seconds or less based on the height, the skin color, the weight, the appearance, well dressed, casual, homeless, old, young, fit, unfit, smokers, addicts, materialistic possessions, the country of birth, the smile, the few words we have exchanged or the words we have heard someone say to another, a potential in a mate based on physical appearance, the list goes on and on. We are all guilty of doing this at one point or another, more often than we even care to admit this to ourselves, and we sweep those instant judgments under the rug pretending we are not judging others. After all, if this is just an internal dialogue, who will know?
God, the creator knows. He knows all!
What can we do to change our behaviors and our quick judgments?
We must try to see the other as a spiritual being and a child of God. We need to pass all this and listen from our heart, see the other from a higher perspective and most of all remembering that it is not for us to judge but for us to help one another and to send our Divine love to all we meet, even in thoughts. Till we all learn how to do this, then the world will still be divided by all the labels we put out there.
We are all One!
AMEN"
Luke 6: 27-38 Jesus' Teaching Further- The Sermon On The Mount – According To Luke
27: But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28: Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29: And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other;
and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
30: Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32: For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33: And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34: And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35: But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36: Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
37: Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
38: Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
