"God's Living Bible - The Third Testament - God's New Revelations - The Gospel of Messiah and Apostle Rev Colleen Etana - On Suffering -
God With Colleen Etana Through The Holy Spirit:
There is a Buddhist saying, "Without suffering we would not know Joy."
Without suffering we wouldn't know compassion for the suffering of others either, whether it be a headache, a cold, a broken arm, or the loss of a loved one. There would be no depth, nor width to us.
Learning to transcend suffering after being made aware of it, is accepting whatever one is going through at the time with Grace. As Jesus did on the cross when he knew he could not fight what was happening. Giving one's will over to what is instead of resisting it, allows us to transcend the situation, knowing it is impermanent anyway.
Resisting not evil, is not to oppose it or lend oneself to the escalation of an illness or even an argument, nor to assert superiority or induce inferiority in ourselves or others. Do not be the cause of your own suffering for you are more likely to cause the suffering of others as well in the process.
Being aware of say an ache in one's back does not mean one has to say to oneself, "Oh, I am suffering and so now this is a 'bad' day." One can always endure with Grace, knowing "This too shall pass."
Labeling it is a thought-ego process that creates a truth that you take to heart. Truth becomes what manifests from within you into your outer life as well and is how you perceive it. A 'bad' day is born all of a sudden. Ego has identified and classified or labeled something yet again. The ego's game is duality.
We all have the power to change what we perceive as 'bad', into 'good' in this way. By changing our thoughts, which is what the Bible tries to teach us by thinking only upon those things that are good, pure, lovely and true.
Once one becomes aware of the purpose of suffering, one can then say to themselves, "Now there is no longer a need to suffer to learn, for now suffering becomes a conscious choice and I choose not to call it suffering but accept that it is just a part of life; moments of what all go through that are never lasting."
Change is constant. I embrace it for I know I AM Growing and Expanding Self.
For example:
I gave this a try today.
I had a pain in my left wrist that kept returning this morning and the more I wondered about it, the more the ego began making up a story that something must be dreadfully wrong. (I am over exaggerating here to make a point, Feeling Joyful.) This is where fear steps in and things can escalate into negativity.
I became the cause of my own suffering by believing my thoughts.
So I stopped, telling myself that since there is a pain there and there is nothing I can do about it, why not just separate myself from the feeling of pain and take a good look at what it really is.
I accepted the sensation and the pain went completely away instantly.
I can say to myself,"Today I am suffering from a cold virus and I feel miserable so I must be having a 'bad' day."
This can make the whole day 'bad' and I can call it suffering, or I can change my thoughts and have a happy day instead.
I can say to myself, "Today I have a cold, but I AM not 'a cold' and I AM happy anyway."
For my spirit and soul are perfectly healthy, it is just the body that is ill for a short time.
I do not have to feel bad just because my body is dealing with a virus. That is a conscious choice of attitude.
That is accepting with Grace what I cannot change, yet changing my perception allows me to endure what is, without identifying and labeling it as 'bad'.
The same can be applied to any situation we may come across in life.
How we handle these situations is what will show our character, integrity, maturity, and how others will perceive us as well as how we perceive ourselves.
Suffering is what creates a break in the ego, so we can truly begin the healing of our Souls for it allows humility to enter in and we become free of the ego's illusory identifications.
Today I will view what I once knew as suffering, as Joy that I AM Free of ego, Feeling Joyful.
We are much more than the body. What do you think we will be when we are without a form to identify with?
We are what we think in our hearts that we are. And we take our hearts with us for Eternity.
We are Soul. The mind, will and emotions. Choose your thoughts carefully and you decide how you will think and feel about yourself within as well as the world without. Take every thought captive unto Christ, which is Love.
This gently retrains the ego. I choose to identify with God, Love, and Goodness. Not with suffering.
Change begins inside us and with new eyes we can begin to perceive the world from within to without much differently.
As a Grand Spiritual Adventure.
And so it is,
and ever shall be.
AMEN"

Philippians 4:8-11
8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9: Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
10: But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

Matthew 5:37-39
37: But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
38: Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

The Third Noble Truth
Stilling: the hallmark of the goal
"This is peace, this is exquisite — the stilling of all fabrications, the relinquishment of all acquisitions, the ending of craving, dispassion, cessation, Unbinding."
— MN 64 No link
Unraveling the causes of suffering
"Monks, the ending of the effluents is for one who knows & sees, I tell you, not for one who does not know & does not see. For one who knows what & sees what is there the ending of effluents? 'Such is form, such its origination, such its disappearance. Such is feeling, such its origination, such its disappearance. Such is perception, such its origination, such its disappearance. Such are fabrications, such their origination, such their disappearance. Such is consciousness, such its origination, such its disappearance.' The ending of the effluents is for one who knows in this way & sees in this way.
